Support for Small Organisations
We know what it is like to run a local charity, community group, voluntary organisation or social enterprise, that’s why we offer support and resources to help make it a little bit easier.
We offer advice on planning, starting, running, funding and improving small organisations. This includes Information Sheets, tool kits, workshops and one-to-one discussions with one of our Advisers. We can also signpost you to other sources of information where we think this will be helpful.
Running a small voluntary or community organisation - this can be just as complicated as flying a plane. There are rules, regulations and procedures, people to keep happy, and plenty of things that can go wrong. It can all seem very complicated, when all you wanted to do was help the local community. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that difficult. Download the Learning to Fly guidance to help get your organisation ready for take-off.
Fit for Action - is your organisation in good health? Does it …
- plan ahead to meet change?
- manage its resources (people, property and money) effectively?
- value its volunteers, staff and trustees?
- offer quality services and activities to its members and users?
- work well with other organisations?
Download our Fit for Action health check to take stock and review your group. Use it to identify whether it is meeting basic legal requirements and adopting good practice; to identify gaps, strengths and areas for improvement; future priorities and training needs.
Safeguarding – voluntary and community groups working with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults can struggle to keep up to date and find the right resources. We run regular Safeguarding Awareness sessions that cover how to identify and deal with safeguarding issues. This will help small organisations to develop good practice that suits their client group and its activities.
Book Now and search for details of future sessions in our Courses and Events Calendar using the Safeguarding category.
